Special Purchase on the Maxxon Katatumbo II for one or two paddlers - comes with paddles, pump and case! While supplies last!
An open-design inflatable kayak system that can be paddled solo or tandem.
The Katatumbo II inflatable kayak was a special production run for a sporting goods store that went bankrupt. AirKayaks purchased the inventory, enabling us to offer the system for a reduced price. The Katatumbo II kayak is identical to the current model Express II kayak, except that the package comes with paddles.
The Maxxon Katatumbo II inflatable kayak is versatility personified. It can be paddled as a tandem by two adults, or move one seat to the center position and take it out solo - it's a great solo option for larger paddlers, or those wanting to take along some gear.
The low profile, recessed seating well and built-in coaming area make it a perfect choice for slower rivers, lakes and calmer waters or for use as a diving platform.
Stiff, higher-backed seats provide comfort and support, while the attached "kangaroo pouch" allows one to store water bottles and small personal items.
With the included carrying tote, you can take the Katatumbo II on your next vacation, or drop it in the trunk of your car.

This kayak has great stability with a full 2" of bladder in the floor. About another 6"h x 8"w on both sides. I bought it because of the 1-2 person conversion and open cockpit. The side buoyancy and open cockpit would allow you to be able to get back in pretty easily in the slight chance you fell out (it's that stable), although waves would wash over the sides if you took it out in waves. Quality is good. The bottom seat velcro strips mentioned in the review above are supposed to run front to back so you can adjust the seats forwards or backward where you like (the seat velcro runs side to side). I'm not nuts about the Boston valve on it because the pump nozzle does not lock into the valve to inflate. If inflating it alone it's awkward to hold the nozzle in and use the foot pump at the same time. Only other complaint is that the velcro strips to hold the paddles on could be longer so they don't undo some of the time.
AirKayaks note: Thanks for the comments! One tip - if the Boston valve adaptor won't stay in position, sometimes just roughing up the outer side of the plastic adaptor - with sandpaper or rock - is enough to give it better grip.

I think I know why this is $300 off the regular price and it doesn't make a bit of difference so grab it now. There are 2 wide strips of Velcro that hold the seat in place ( plus 4 straps). They are supposed to match up with the chair but they are going crossways instead. There is no slippage at all so it really doesn't matter. The construction on this kayak is first rate heavy duty. My husband and I put it together in the back yard first which is a good thing because the directions were terrible but we got it figured out. Once you know what you are doing it is pretty quick and easy to blow up with the bellows and get the seats in. Make sure you hook the higher straps into the front hooks and the lower ones behind. I took it out on the lake today and loved it. Feel like I got a real steal.
