Instructions for Converting the Oasis Outdoor Shower to Use Hot and Cold Water
The easiest hook up for hot and cold is running one hose from a Garage/outdoor Utility sink and connecting it straight to the shower.
You will need to go to a hardware store and buy a "Y" adapter for garden hose. You may also need to get a short garden hose connector (8"-12" long) Usually these have a coil wrapped around the outside to keep the hose from kinking. So in total you will need the following items.
(1) "Y" adapter
(1) Short hose connector
(2) Long garden hoses (with female connections at both ends of each hose) You can also get and adapter for your standard hose for a few dollars to create female connections at both ends).
1. Connect the Short Hose Connector to the Hose inlet on the Oasis Shower.
2. Next, connect he "Y" adapter stem to the short hose connector.
3. Then connect the two garden hoses to the Y connector and connect the opposite end to the hot and cold supply.
Caution: The temperature will be controlled at the main taps and can fluctuate after running for a few minutes. Test prior to use. Some Y adapters have valve controls on them to allow you to adjust the flow. Again, the temp can change quickly so use caution to avoid getting burned.
For Hot Water via Solar:
In most climates the garden hose on the Oasis Shower heats up and will deliver a warm/hot stream of water for rinsing. Hot water hookups may not be needed in most climates.
A dark color garden hose may be attached to the shower for added solar heating. This can create a short hot shower when done properly.
1. Attach a dark colored garden hose to the water source (i.e. home exterior faucet). A longer hose will provide a longer blast of warm to hot water.
2. Coil the hose in direct sunlight and attach the other end to the hose connector on the shower.
3. With the water on at the main source, turn the valve on the shower until the water is flowing from the shower head.
4. Turn the shower off and let the hose heat up.
CAUTION - ALWAYS TEST THE WATER TEMPERATURE BEFORE USE TO AVOID CONTACT WITH WATER THAT MAY BE TOO HOT!
